Boys Track Competes in Quadrangular at Edgewood

In what ended up being a WIC conference preview, the boys’ track team finished 4th in a quadrangular meet at Edgewood Thursday night. Indian Creek took first with 68, Edgewood had 66, Owen Valley had 52, and the Eagles finished with 47 points. The 4x8 got the night started right as they set a season best of 8:27.96 in taking first in the race. Rafe Silbaugh led the team off with a 2:08 split, Case Smith went 2:12, Cord Smith came through in 2:10, and Chase Austin had an anchor leg of 8:27.96. In the 100 meter dash, the Eagles got a scoring effort from Jacob Finley in 12.45. The 4x100 relay of Finley, Ethan Spiece, Ethan Williams, and PJ McMasters finished 3rd, earning 2 points for the Eagles. The Eagles got a third place finish in the 400 from Silbaugh. He clocked a season-best time of 54.83. Cord Smith continued to make strides in the 300 hurdles with a 4th place finish in his season-best time of 45.25. Case Smith used a 58 second first lap in the 800 to finish 3rd in 2:07.41. This was over a 4 second improvement for Smith. The Eagles closed out their night on the track with a 1st place finish in the 4x400. Silbaugh, Spiece, Cord Smith, and Austin set a season-best mark of 3:36.95. The Eagles picked up several points in the field as well. Wyatt Barnett won the discus throw with a season- best mark of 132-2. His teammate, Westin Fulford, finished third in the discus, also hitting a season-best mark of 126-8. In the shot put, Barnett continued his night of point scoring with a 3rd place distance of 39-11 and Wyatt Sutter finished 4th in 39-6. The Eagles will have one more tune up before the WIC meet when they host the Columbus East Olympians on Tuesday.
