Girls Golf 2022 Preview

By Brad Baughman | Jul 30, 2022 10:13 PM

Seven golfers have been showing up for voluntary summer sessions with the first official practice date now just a week away - Friday, July 29. Girls golf is different from other Indiana high school sports in that only two, not ten, practices are required before scheduled competition. Our season is scheduled to open Wednesday, August 3 when we travel to Tameka Woods for a match with Indian Creek. Three golfers return with varsity experience, while the other four are new to the sport. Sophomore Lilly VanNess will occupy the #1 spot in the lineup, while senior Hannah deWeerdt and junior Savannah Poling will most likely start at #2 and #3 respectively. Four freshmen, Ava Stogsdill, Chloe Poling, Maya Herndandez-Graham, and Caitlin Seet will all be counted on to fill spots 4-7. While Lilly and Hannah earned all-conference honors last season, and Savannah played in several varsity matches, the rest of our team will be completely untested. It should be a fun, yet challenging season, full of opportunties for growth and development.
