Boys' Track Competes with Brownstown on Tuesday

The boys track team traveled to Brownstown on Tuesday night for a meet with the Braves. The final score of the meet was Brownstown 84 Brown County 46. The Eagles had 10 season-best performances on the evening. The 4x8 relay started the evening off with a victory in 8:57.84. Rafe Silbaugh, Cord Smith, Case Smith, and Charlie Webb brought home the victory for the team. In the 1600, Chase Austin cruised to a victory in 4:37.04 and teammate Kai Koester picked up third place points in 5:18.94. Ethan Spiece made his debut in the 400, clocking a 56.34 to take 3rd place. Cord Smith made another drop in the 300 hurdles as he ran a season-best 46.34 to finish third. In the 800, the Eagles took the top 2 places as Silbaugh captured the win in a season best of 2:05.74 and Case Smith took 2nd in what was also a season-best performance of 2:11.64. In the 3200, Austin took control early and paced himself to a victory in 9:56. Charlie Webb also picked up a point as he finished 3rd in the two mile race. The Eagles also picked up several points in the field. Wyatt Sutter took first place in the discus with a mark of 117-6. Wyatt Barnett picked up a 3rd place in the discus in 111. In the shot put, Barnett took 2nd with a mark of 39-11. The jumps area fared well for the Eagles Tuesday night. Case Smith had a season-best performance of 5-6, taking second in the high jump. Jesse Hubbard took third in the high jump in 5-2. Jacob Finley was 2nd in the long jump with a jump of 16-3.5. To round out the Eagle’s scoring, Kai Koester got over 8 feet in the pole vault to earn 2nd place points. The Eagles will be back in action Thursday at Edgewood with the Mustangs and Indian Creek.
