The Brown County track teams had a few athletes compete at the annual HSR Indoor State Meet Saturday at IU’s Gladstein Fieldhouse. The Eagles competed Saturday evening in the small-school division. Senior Chase Austin set his all-time PR in the 3200 with a time of 9:49.49. Austin’s time earned him a 6th place finish and a spot on the medal stand. Senior Hadley Gradolf also ran the 3200 for the Eagles, placing 18th in 12:16.95. The Eagles final qualifier was the Distance Medley Relay for the boys. A high school DMR goes 1200, 400,800, and 1600. Austin ran the 1200 leg for the Eagles in 3:20.4, Case Smith ran a 57.9 in the 400, Rafe Silbaugh clocked a 2:11.3 for the 800, and Cord Smith finished off the relay with a 4:59.6 1600. The DMR had a finishing time of 11:29.26 and finished 23rd. The Eagles have a week of training coming up as they prepare for their April 4 opening meet at Bloomington North against the host Cougars and BNL. Go Eagles!
