Golfers Close Out Regular Season in Fashion

The outcome of Wednesday's tri-match with Edinburgh and Greenwood at Timbergate Golf Course was decided early. Neither of those schools was able to field a complete team, so the Eagles were playing the course looking for a season ending tune-up for the upcoming sectional. Shooting a 194, the Eagles tied their low nine hole round of the season. Lilly VanNess posted an one over par 37 and got help from teammates Chloe Poling (45), Ava Sanders (52), Katie Johnson (60), and Caitlynn Lookebill (63). "Timbergate has some challenging holes. I was extremely proud of that team score, and I truly believe we are playing our best golf of the season at just the right time," stated Eagle co-coach Brad Baughman. Baughman added, "Lilly was steady as usual. Chloe had one of her better rounds of the season in terms of ball striking, and Ava Sanders dropping a 52 for us was huge." The Eagles finish their regular season with a record of 12 wins and 2 losses in dual and tri-matches and an overall record of 32 wins and 16 losses. They will compete in the IHSAA Sectional Monday, September 23, at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington. The Eagles are paired with Edgewood and Indian Creek and will tee off on the Quarry nine at 9:20 A. M.
