Eagle Runners Qualify for Semi-State

The cross country teams competed in the Columbus North Regional Saturday. Due to facility conflicts, the race was run at Shelbyville’s Blue River Park. Senior Hadley Gradolf finished 5th overall in a time of 19:26. Gradolf was the first individual qualifier in the field to advance to next week’s semi-state meet at Brown County. Sadie Hiatt finished 45th for the Eagles in 22:52 and Megan Cumberledge was 49th in 23:08. In the boys’ race, the Eagles captured a 5th place team finish, qualifying them for the semi-state meet. Chase Austin finished 5th overall in a time of 16:13. Cord and Case Smith finished 32nd and 33rd respectively. Cord came across in 18:06 and Case finished in 18:08. Senior Rafe Silbaugh was 38th in 18:18. Rounding out the top 5 for the Eagles was Charlie Webb who ran 18:22. Kai Koester clocked an 18:32 and Clay Austin ran 18:43. The Brown County Semi-State will begin next Saturday at 11:30.
