Lilly VanNess was one of two area athletes to be named Athlete of the Week by The Republic newspaper. The article appeared in the Wednesday, August 28, edition of the Columbus, Indiana paper. According to the article, the Eagle senior was selected for her recent accomplishments in the WIC tournament. "VanNess fired a school-record 1-over par 74 Saturday at Forest Park to win medalist honors and lead the Eagles to a runner-up team finish in the Western Indiana Conference tournament." VanNess has claimed medalist honors in all but one of the seven events in which the Eagles have competed and currently sports a nine hole scoring average of 39.1. In addition to setting the 18 hole scoring record, she has posted a nine hole score of 35 twice this season, which tied the school record for a nine hole score. The Eagles have at least six matches remaining, including the Batesville Invitational on September 7 and the Franklin Central Invitational on September 14.
