Brown County 1  Martinsville 4 #1 Singles - Carter Dawson (M) def Owen East (BC) 6-3, 6-3 #2 Singles - Keller Boyd (M) def Robert Webb (BC) 6-0, 6-1 #3 Singles - Landon Huston (M) def Audric Dunn (BC) 6-0, 6-0 #1 Doubles - Trevor Shields/Jax Burt (BC) def Jamison Crabb/Clay Crismore (M) 6-1, 6-0 #2 Doubles - Hayden Murphy/Vincent Rush (M) def Jax Anderson/Logan Peck (BC) 6-0,7-5 The Eagles started their season at home against the Artesians of Martinsville with 1-4 loss.  The #1 doubles team of Trevor Shields and Jax Burt were victorious with a 6-1, 6-0 win.This duo contains two of our returning players with significant varsity experience and their play tonight showed it.  Number one singles player Owen East played well in his new spot.  His game has continued to improve and he will be counted on for his consistent play and leadership. Robert Webb, playing a new position also at #2 singles, had a tough match tonight, but I fully expect him to continue to play hard and use this experience to improve his game.  Our freshmen, Audric Dunn, Logan Peck and Jax Anderson all played in their first varsity match of their career.  Although the results were not what they wanted, all three played some really good tennis.  This group along with Jack Keener will be battling for positions and will be expected to use each opportunity to improve their games.  Up next for the Eagles will be WIC conference foe, the Braves from Indian Creek, who is coached by a former Eagle in Craig Davis.  This match will take place on Wednesday, August 21st at the BCHS tennis courts.
