Girls Golf Season Preview

It takes four players to score in a high school golf match, and that is exactly how many players the Eagles currently have on their roster. One of those four, senior Lilly VanNess, might just be one of the best in the area this fall. VanNess had a highly successful junior season. She advanced from the tough Bloomington IHSAA Sectional, and she was the Western Indiana Conference medalist, outdistancing her nearest competitor by 18 strokes. Her summer preparation should have her well prepared for the season. Junior Chloe Poling brings two years of varsity experience to the squad. Poling earned all conference honors last season for the Eagles and will start out in the #2 spot behind VanNess. One other Eagle who gained valuable experience last season and will be counted on to score for the team is sophomore Caitlyn Lookebill. New to the roster this season is senior Katie Johnson. Though she is new to the sport, Johnson has shown some natural ability and a desire to learn. Due to a change of date with the conference tournament, the Eagles had to withdraw from the Jasper Invitational, an event they had competed in for the last few years. With that change, the team is currently looking for another Saturday invitational to add to its schedule. The Eagles are set to open their season Thursday, August 8, when they take on Indian Creek at Tameka Woods Golf Course.
