Golfers Snag Fourth in WIC Championship

By Brad Baughman | May 12, 2024 12:00 AM

The Eagles posted a season best 365 Saturday, May 11, at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington, earning them a fourth place finish in the eleven team Western Indiana Conference tournament field. Junior Liam Cassiday led the team with an 89, while fellow junior Wesley Arndt and senior Clay Austin each shot a 90. Those three garnered All-Conference honors for their performances. Jon Kirchhofer took a 96, and Will Hiatt carded a 125 for the other BCHS scores. "I was not surprised by our score. We shot a 373 at Cascades about a month ago in the Mustang Invitational, and I knew we were better now than we were then. I was pleasantly surprised, however, in our fourth place finish. I think we beat three or four teams that may have been seeded higher than us based on the 18 hole season averages the teams turned in prior to the tournament," said Eagle coach Brad Baughman. The golfers have a busy week ahead with a tri-match Wednesday, May 15, with Indian Creek and Mooresville Christian at Bluff Creek Golf Course, followed by a home dual match Thursday, May, 16, with Eastern Greene. They end the week Saturday, May 18, when they compete in the New Castle Invitational at Westwood Golf Club. Congratulations to the Greencastle Tiger Cubs for winning the tournament and to Lane Notter from Northview who took medalist honors. WIC Team Results: Greencastle 326; Northview 346; Edgewood 360; Brown County 365; Cloverdale 369; West Vigo 370; Sullivan 377; Indian Creek 379; Owen Valley 394; North Putnam 447; South Putnam 495.
