Brown County Eagles Varsity Volleyball Takes Down Conference Opponent in 4 Sets

By Jessica Robertson | Sep 10, 2022 7:00 PM

The Lady Eagles Volleyball team advanced their overall record to 5-7 this weekend. Also making their Conference record 3-1. The Lady Eagles took to the books last week reviewing the Sullivan scouting report that volunteer coach Bob Chin put together for them. Bob's knowledge of the game and ability to analyze rotations and communicate needed adjustments to the coaching staff has been huge for us this season. I (Coach Robertson) started out coaching at a young age and have been to many coaching clinics and do all I can to be more knowledgeable about the game. However, taking Coach Bob up on his offer to be a volunteer coach has been the best decision I have made for myself and this team. I am honored to have him as a coaching mentor and I will keep him as long as he is willing to stay. We reviewed the game plan for Sullivan Friday evening after a tough loss to Eastern Greene the night before. We take every loss as a learning opportunity and sometimes we learn more about life lessons than we do a volleyball game. The girls were focused in early today knowing they needed to serve tough, anticipate plays, and put up some big blocks. We were able to match our line up with theirs and put up big hands on Sullivan's tough hitters. The front blocking line, consisting of Anna Stogsdill, Evie Finley, Abigail Watson, Madi Hawley, and Cady Kemp, totaled 11 Block kills for the Eagles. Those hits that made it around the block were dug up by the back row defensive players Morgan Osborn with 11 digs, Emma Lucas with 18 digs, and Londyn Koester with 20 digs. Once the Eagles had control of the ball they were able to find ways to score totaling for 38 kills. All 6 front row players were able to find ways to score. However, Abigail Watson was a force to be reckoned with as she went 41/48 hitting with 21 kills today. The Eagles also served tough today rounding out with 8 aces of which senior Emma Lucas had 4 and Londyn Koester had 2. The most recent one coming from an Eastern Greene fan. She was impressed with our team's composure despite the heckling fans and the nit picking official calls. She said "I have been watching a lot of Volleyball lately and I am just truly impressed with the group of young ladies you have. You can tell they truly care about each other and are passionate about this game. It shows by how they never gave up. They were fun to watch!". The Lady Eagles take on Hauser at home on Tuesday 9/13. It's youth night so the 5th-8th grade players are being announced between the JV and Varsity matches. We are also pretty sure some record breaking is going to happen on 9/13!!! You should come check it out and be a part of history. The JV plays at 6 followed by Varsity at approximately 7pm.
