Brown County got off to a good start Friday night in Cloverdale, scoring twice in their first three offensive possessions and forcing a fumble on the Clover's second stint with the football. This would continue through the first half. Sophomore Noah Lewis go the Eagles on the board first with a 4 yard run. Senior Ethan Spiece added the Extra Point for a 7-0 lead. The Clovers Answered right back on their next possession. After trading takeaways, the Eagles got back to their scoring ways. Set up by a Forced Fumble by Senior Garrett Braden and a 25 yard Fumble Return by Sophomore Ben Wagler, the Eagles found the end zone again When Ethan Spiece completed a touchdown pass to Senior Wide Receiver Blake Wagler. BC would find the end zone again later in the second quarter, but this time it was the defense that aided in the scoring when Ethan Spiece intercepted a pass from his Linebacker spot and went 86 yards for a touchdown. While Spiece made a play on the ball, the takeaway was set-up by Blake Wagler getting to the quarterback as he was delivering the ball. The Eagles final score came just moments later, when QB Noah Lewis added his second rushing touchdown of the game, this time from 5 yards out. The Eagles would head into the locker room with a 27-15 lead. The second half was not as favorable for the Eagles. The Clovers were able to find the end zone two more time in the final 24 minutes, while Brown County could not. The Eagles were down, but not out as the defense forced two stops late in the game to give the offense the ball. Defensively, the Eagles were led by Senior Defensive Lineman Andy Weddle who recorded a Sack and 4 Tackles for Loss on the night, including one key 3rd Down Stop when he and fellow Senior Defensive Lineman Brayden Hedger stunted through the Clovers' Offensive Line to bring the ball carrier down for a loss of 3. The Eagles had one final shot at the end zone with one minute left on the clock, but were able to convert. Final Score - 29-27. The Eagles are back in action next week as they travel to Indian Creek for their Week 4 match-up with the Braves. Kick-off for the September 9th game is scheduled for 7:00pm.
