A very solid Jennings County HIgh School girls golf team was simply too strong for the Eagle golfers Tuesday at Salt Creek Golf Retreat. The visiting Panthers fired a 182, easily outdistancing the Eagles who shot a 209. The Panthers got a 41 and 40 from their top two golfers to secure the win. Brown County sophomore Lilly VanNess battled back after a tough opening hole to record a 48. Freshman Chloe Poling turned in her strongest round of the year with a 53. Other Eagle scores: Hanna deWeerdt 51, Ava Stogsdill 57, Savannah Poling 68, and Maya Hernandez-Graham 70. "Chloe was really clicking yesterday. She drove the ball well, made good decisions, and avoided the big numbers. She is definitely making huge strides," said Brad Baughman, Eagle co-coach. The Eagles next match is with Owen Valley Tuesday, September 6, at Rolling Meadows Golf Course in Gosport.
