Tri-Match Victory for Golfers

The Brown County High School girls golf team followed its solid performance Saturday in the Jasper Invitational with a double win at home Wednesday in a tri-match with Monrovia and South Putnam. Posting a 214, their best score at home this season, the Eagles cruised by South Putnam (227) and Monrovia (242). Lilly VanNess shot a 45, matching her season best, to lead Brown County. Ava Stogsdill fired her best round of the season with a 52, and Hannah deWeerdt contributed a 54. Chloe Poling carded a 63, her best of the season, while Savannah Poling shot a 65, and Maya Hernandez-Graham took a 72 to round out the Eagles' scores. "Getting a couple of wins was nice, but more gratifyng is seeing some of our golfers improving and hitting quality shots," said co-coach Brad Baughman. The Eagles play Morristown High School Thursday, August 25, at Blue Bear Golf Club in Shelbyville. The match is scheduled for 5:00 P.M.
