The number 1's, doubles and singles were victorious for the Eagles. In unusual fashion, number 1 singles player senior Jax Burt was the last person to finish in his two and half hour, three set match with two tie-breaks. Jax fought back from a 3-4 deficit to force a third set tie break. Sophomores, Nolan McFall and Nicklaus Arndt were pushed to the limit as many of their points were long rallys. Timely shots by both brought their first win of the season. Senior Jacob Voland, playing his first varsity match, came within a few shots of pulling off a great win. The doubles duo of Jax Anderson and Colin Loy struggled to find their groove, but played much better in the second set. Bryan Teague played a good match but a tough loss in his first set tie-break forced him to play from behind, but he fought hard and gained some very important match experience that he will use to his advantage in future matches. Congratulations to our Junior Varsity players as they all won. Freshman Gage Barnett led the off with a 6-3 victory and set the tone. Sophomore Bennett Still, playing number 2 singles battled back from 2-4 to win the next four games to secure his first high school victory. Another first victory came for sophomore Noah Freeman when he and junior Diesel McMillion cruised to a 6-2 victory. CONGRATULATIONS Bennett and Noah!! The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday as they host the Steve Makurat Invitational starting at 9 AM.
