This Waldron team lost three seniors from last year's sectional championship team, but they reloaded, and were probably even better than that team. The Eagles knew that this match was going to be tough and easily could have lost their composure, but they lost with dignity and represented the BCHS Tennis program admirably. Senior Jax Burt playing #1 singles had to battle one of the most complete players we will see this season. Sophomore Bryan Teague played a very solid player at #2 singles, but this experience will pay dividends as the season progresses. Playing #3 singles for the Eagles was junior Barrett Lasley, who is returning to tennis after a two year break. He just needs more match experience, and he will continue to improve and the his game will return in time. Our two sophomores, Nichlaus Arndt and Nolan McFall played a very talented and experienced team at #1 doubles, they got a glimpse of what I believe could be them by the end of the season. They have already improved and the season has just started. Junior Jax Anderson and sophomore Colin Loy, another player returning from a small hiatus, played another experienced team. They will continue to improve as the season continues. Every one of our very large JV team players got to play, which in its own right was great. This will not always be true, most teams we face are not as fortunate to have as many players as the Eagles. I feel that each player got to experience their first match of the season or in high school. Freshman Gage Barnett was our lone winner at #2 singles. The Eagles will host Martinsville on Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 at the BCHS tennis courts. Record (0-1) MHC (0-1) Coach Roush
