2026 Boys Golf Preview
By Brad Baughman | Mar 7, 2026 12:00 AM
It is early March, and the 2026 boys golf season is close to starting. An early, tentative roster of thirteen prospects lists no seniors, several freshmen, and only three returning golfers with any experience. Coach Brad Baughman, in his 26th year, is obviously concerned about the lack of experience but excited to see so much interest from an unproven but eager freshman class. Junior Colbie VanZuiden and sophomores Parker Arndt and Finn Silbaugh saw considerable varsity action last season and will anchor this year's squad. Opportunities abound for the remainder of the players, including the eight freshmen. The 2026 schedule includes a couple of new matches. The Eagles will open the season Tuesday, April 7, with a home tri-match against North and South Decatur, two opponents the Eagles have not competed with in recent years. On Tuesday, May 19, the Eagles will travel to Smock Golf Course to take on Greenwood Christian Academy, another new opponent. Brown County will participate in six eighteen hole events prior to the IHSAA sectional. Those events are the Artesian Classic on Saturday, April 11; the Mustang Invitational on Saturday, April 18; the WIC Championship on Saturday, May 16; the New Castle Invitational on Saturday, May 23; a four team home event on Tuesday, June 2; and a dual event with Edgewood High School at Cascades Golf Course on Wednesday, June 3. The sectional is set for Monday, June 8, at Cascades in Bloomington.
