The boys and girls cross country teams started the 2023 season with two home meets this past week. On Wednesday, Brown County hosted the annual BCXC Challenge. This unique race is run with a partner. The initial runner runs the first 2500 meters of the race and the partner then runs the second portion after getting the tag from their partner. The boys finished 3rd behind Columbus North and Silver Creek. The girls do not post a team score because they did not have three pairs to score. For the boys, Charlie Webb and Eli Wrightsman finished as the first Eagle pair. They place 8th overall in a time of 17:42. Corbin Brahaum and Kai Koester finished 12th in 18:20. The final scoring pair for the Eagles was Carter Condon and Xavier Himebaugh who finished 14th. Elijah LaVere and Josh Bowling also ran and finished 19th. For the girls, Megan Cumberledge and Della Hitchcock finished 19th in 24:18 and Sadie Hiatt and Livie Austin finished 20th in 24:24. On Saturday, the Eagles hosted the 2nd Annual BC Harrier Invitational. In the girls race, the Eagles had four runners and didn’t post a team score.
