Three years ago, the Brown County boys’ golf team expanded its schedule in pursuit of more 18 hole tournament events and agreed to compete in the New Castle Invitational and face teams from another region of the state. BC senior Parker VanNess must not mind the two hour bus trip and has found the Westwood Golf Club course to his liking as he captured medalist honors for the third consecutive year. VanNess’s three over par 73 bested members of the state-ranked New Castle Trojan team playing on their home course.
Though VanNess came home with individual honors, the Eagles struggled somewhat as a team, posting a 375 to finish 7th in the nine team field. New Castle Green (varsity) won the tournament with four scores in the 70’s while their reserve team, New Castle White, finished third.
Other BCHS scores: Curtis Lookebill – 94, Cooper VanNess – 100, Rex Watters – 108, and Peyton Proctor – 130.
The Eagles play Whiteland Tuesday, May 21, at The Legends in Franklin and will then be idle the rest of the week.
