The Brown County High School girls golf team posted a respectable score of 408 to finish 7th in the highly competitive IHSAA sectional golf tournament at Cascades Golf Course in Bloomington on Monday, September 21.
The Columbus North Bulldogs, rated 7th in the state, fired an impressive 299 to take the championship. Martinsville (361) and Columbus East (371) grabbed the second and third spots and will also advance to the IHSAA regional.
Annika Evenson led the Eagles with a 97. Right behind her with a 98 was fellow junior Ainslie Winton. Sophomore Avery Patterson carded a 102, while juniors Abby Padgett and Christy Sebastian turned in a 111 and 114 respectively.
“I am extremely proud of the girls’ performance today. They hung in there and battled the entire eighteen holes,” said co-coach Brad Baughman. “All of them hit some shots they will be able to look back on and feel good about,” Baughman added.
