Battling the heat and humidity, the BCHS girls’ golf team fired a 206 Monday afternoon at Salt Creek Golf Retreat to get past the Southwestern Shelby Spartans who carded a 233. For the second consecutive match, it was the one-two punch of seniors Taylor Poling and Aubrey Hollander that led the Eagles. Poling shot a 49, while Hollander was just a couple strokes back with a 51. Allison Stogsdill, Ainslie Winton, and junior Courtney Hill, playing in her first match, each turned in a 53 to account for the winning score. Other BCHS scores: Christy Sebastian 62, Abby Padgett 64, and Annika Evenson 65. With the victory, the Eagles improve to 4 wins and 2 losses.
The golfers will face Indian Creek Thursday, August 22, at Tameka Woods and will compete in the Jasper Invitational Saturday, August 24, at Buffalo Trace Golf Course. Action there begins at 12:30 P.M.
