The eagles to a positive step with a 3-2 win over the Vikings of West Vigo. The eagles were led by the strong play of #2 singles player Josh Miller and #3 singles player Aidan Burt who cruised to easy victories. Our #1 singles player Nolan Patterson was beaten by probably the best player in the Western Indiana Conference in West Vigo’s Dylan Lemon. Nolan played some really great tennis and elevated his game a notch or two, but was just simply beaten by a better player. To secure the victory for the eagles was the #2 doubles team of Reid Davis and Eli Sichting with a straight set victory. Our usually dominant doubles duo of Spencer Blee and Noah Coachran looked to have their match in hand in the first set, but suffered a slight mental slip and found themselves looking at a 5-7 loss in the second set. With the match already decided a 10 point super tie break was played and they came up just short, losing 7-10. I am not sure what happened, but I know this pair and they will rebound with a vengeance.
The jv team made up of #1 singels Austen Deckard, #2 singles Jack Sichting , and #3 singles Daylen Dees won their matches and played extremely well, once again adding valuable match experience. The eagles travel back to Edgewood tomorrow for a WIC match against the mustangs.
