The eagles rebounded from the tough loss last night to defeat the Jets from Hauser on an early season senior night. I was extremely pleased with the way the guys played tonight. Our seniors all were victorious and had a little fun along the way. The doubles team of Cochran and Blee, continued to rely on a strong backcourt and service game to enjoy a well fought victory. The unlikely duo of Patterson and Davis didn’t miss a beat as they cruised to an easy victory. Playing a new position, Aidan delivered a strong showing at #2 singles. Juniors Austen Deckard and Josh Miller completed the varsity line up. Josh played very solid and was victorious in straight sets. Austen, playing in his first varsity match of the young season, struggled early but came from behind to win a second set and force a third set tie-break. He was a couple of shots just missed or he would have completed his comeback.
Jack got to play another match tonight and played well. Jon played his first match in his high school career, not the result he was looking for but had numerous very good shots. The upside of these two is great, I have high expectations for them. This seems a little bittersweet to have a senior night with the majority of the season left, but we consider it a gift to be able to play the game we love. I will comment more on this senior class later. Next up for the eagles will be the Knights of Northview in another WIC match.
