The eagles got back on the winning track with a 4-1 victory over the Patriots of Owen Valley in a Western Indiana Conference match. The doubles teams lead the eagles tonight as new #2 duo of Read Davis/Eli Sichting easily defeated their opponent 6-1, 6-0 and were quickly followed off the court by Spencer Blee/Josh Miller. The third point came on #2 singles player Aidan Burt as he won by twin 6-1 scores. Noah Cochran getting the rare opportunity to play singles was also victorious at #3 singles. Noah used his extensive doubles playing experience to his advantage and came back from a 4-5 deficit to win the last 3 games to take a 7-5 second set for the victory. The eagles lone loss was #1 singles player Nolan Patterson who still might be fighting some fatigue issues from the past two nights. He looked very comfortable in his first set, and seemed to tighten up in the second. With the match already in the talons of the eagles, it was decided to play a 10 point super tie-break for a third set. On the jv side, Jack Sichting playing at #1 singles might have played the longest jv pro-set (first to 8 games) in eagles tennis history. Jack completed his 9-8(8) victory long after most of the varsity matches were complete. Getting a very good victory at #2 doubles were sophomore Daylen Dees and freshman Jon Kirchoffer. The eagles will head to the nest for much needed rest over the long weekend and will take flight next week as they travel to Edgewood on two consecutive nights (Wednesday and Thursday) to play two WIC foes in West Vigo and host school Edgewood.
