After a Tuesday postponement due to rain, the Brown County boys’ golf team traveled to The Legends Golf Club in Franklin on Wednesday to face the Whiteland Warriors and ran into a buzz saw. With four golfers shooting under 40, the Warriors shot a 151, establishing a new school 9-hole scoring record. Junior Zach Ricketts fired an even par 36 to lead his team and grab medalist honors.
Though they were soundly beaten, the Eagles’ 185 was actually two strokes better than their current nine hole average. Seniors Parker VanNess and Curtis Lookebill led Brown County, carding a 37 and 43 respectively. Cooper VanNess – 51, and Rex Watters – 54 contributed to the Eagles’ score.
Other BCHS scores: Paul Kleppe – 56 (personal best), Wyatt Fox – 62, Carter Kelly – 65, and Peyton Proctor – 69.
Brown County has one regular season match left, a May 28 home date with Morristown. Seniors Curtis Lookebill and Parker VanNess will be recognized in a senior night ceremony following the match. All players should attend, and parents are invited as well.
