In their first appearance in the IHSAA regional, the Brown County Lady Eagle golfers battled a steady rain, an unfamiliar and challenging course, and their nerves and finished 14th in the 18 team field with a solid 409.
Senior Ashley Masteller, a regional qualifier as a sophomore, was the lone Eagle to have ever played the course. She led the team with an 89 but needed an 83 or lower to advance to the state tournament. Allison Stogsdill had her best round of the season with a 99 that included a 45 on the front side. Ainslie Winton carded a 52 on the front side but struggled on the back to finish with a 109, while Taylor Poling had a rough time on the front but bounced back strong on the back to shoot a 112. Abby Padgett played the back nine well and turned in a 135.
Evansville North won the tournament with a blistering 315, and they, along with Evansville Memorial and Bedford North Lawrence, will advance to the state.
