Boys Varsity Cross Country, Girls Varsity Cross Country · Eagles Compete at Semi-State; Fleetwood and Gradolf Qualify for State Finals

Brown County hosted the cross country semi-state Saturday at Eagle Park.  In the girls’ race, the Eagles finished 10th in the 20-team field.  Abby Fleetwood ran a strong racing, finish 7th in 18:52.  Fellow sophomore, Hadley Gradolf finished 11th in 19:07.  Those performances earned both Fleetwood and Gradolf spots in the IHSAA State Championship in Terre Haute next Saturday.  This will be Gradolf’s second consecutive appearance at the state finals.  Seniors Eme Koester and Emma DeBord closed out their cross country careers with good performances.  Koester covered the course in 20:50 and DeBord finished in 21:11.  Freshmen Lexi Austin and Madalyn Purlee finished their races in 22:05 and 22:53, respectively.

In the boys’ race, Chase Austin led the Eagles, finishing 35th in 16:35.  Rhett Silbaugh had another strong race as he covered the 5k course in 17:59.  Cord Smith closed out his freshman season with an 18:15.  Rafe Silbaugh continued his journey back from injury with an improved time of 18:26.  Senior Cameron Fox closed out his cross country career with an 18:35.  Blake Wagler finished in 18:53, and Corbin Brahaum clocked a 20:10.  As a team, the Eagles finished 20th in the field.
