On Thursday evening, several members of the boys track and field team competed in the Bloomington Track and Field Regional in hopes of securing a spot in the state championship next weekend at Indiana University. Seniors, Dale Phelps and Jackson McPheeters both had qualifying performances that earned them a return trip to the finals. Dale Phelps qualified in the 300 hurdles with a 3rd place finish in a personal-best time of 40.79. Phelps also finished fourth in the 110 hurdles, just missing the third place state qualifying spot by one one-hundredth of a second. McPheeters ran a very strategic race by taking the lead early on in the 800 meter run and hanging on for a second place finish in a time of 1:56.65. Like Phelps, his finish was very close, as he was less than half a tenth from the regional champion. Both Eagles will compete next Friday evening in Bloomington. As a team, the Eagles finished 10th out of 37 teams in the meet. The other Eagle participants in the regional included Ricky Stanley in the pole vault, Marino Dolph in the 800 (12th-2:04.54), and the 4×800 of Dolph, Aidan Burt, Waylon Patrick, and Cameron Fox (12th-8:55.04).
