The boys’ cross country team competed at the Brown County Semi-State on Saturday. The team beat expectations with a thirteenth place finish out of the twenty teams who competed. After reviewing the results, it seems like the whole team nearly hit their career best or seasonal best. The Eagles were led by Wyatt Wyman’s personal best. Wyatt run around his home course in a time of 15:54.9. Since the team did not place in the top six, he had to be one of the top ten individuals to advance. Wyatt was the ninth best individual and advances to next week’s IHSAA State Meet over at the Terre Haute Lavern Gibson course.
The team on the whole ran a great race. Wyatt, Jackson McPheeters and Tim Kilburn all set their career bests. The cross country team was the tenth team to qualify for the IHSAA Semi-State. The Eagles should be proud of the way they finished and will back the lone state competitor next week at the state meet.
The girl’s team had a three pack of freshman who qualified for the Brown County Semi-State. The lady Eagles represented the school and their team well. Leading the way for the Eagles was Emelia Koester with a solid top fifty performance placing fourty-eighth overall. Anna Fleetwood ran close to a PR in eighty-second place and Emma DeBord ran to an eighty-fourth place finish with a career best of 20:46.2. The lady Eagle cross country team will be looking to make great strides next year as the whole team is currently made up of freshmen and sophomores.
