The girls’ team had a busy week with meets at Silver Creek and Culver which are on the opposite sides of the state. The girls ran well down at the Dragon Invite on this past Tuesday with a strong fourth place finish out of the seventeen team field. Leading the way was Eme Koester with her third place finish. She got a little behind the second place runner and just could not make of the gap during the last two kilometers of the race. Anna Fleetwood had a strong race with her eighth place finish and Emma DeBorg ran one of her best races of the year by placing twelfth. Emma was in twenty-fifth spot after two kilometers and pasted thirteen girls over the last three kilometers of the race.
The Culver invite proved to be a little more competitive with the girls placing eleventh out of the thirty-seven team field. Eme once again lead the Eagles with an eighth place finish. Also, finishing with a medal was Anna Fleetwood with a twenty-fifth placing. The girls performed well considering only one runner has previously run on the Culver course. The team now has a week to get ready for the Western Indiana Conference Meet at Cascade HS next weekend.
